Hi! I'm Tina Craig. I started quilting in 1990 as an unemployed newlywed looking for something to do. I took a beginner sampler quilt class at Colchester Mill Fabric Store and haven't stopped stitching yet. I try to challenge myself to learn something new with every quilt.
When we moved to a seaside town in southern Rhode Island in 1997, Seaside Stitches was born. Back then, I was making and selling hundreds of paper-pieced quilt block lapel pins. Now, I prefer to teach you how to make your own!
I specialize in precision piecing (foundation paper piecing and English paper piecing) and domestic machine quilting. I enjoy learning new techniques and have even stepped out of my comfort zone to try art quilting. Thankfully, virtual workshops have opened up a whole new world to quilt teachers and students.
I was thrilled to present my virtual lecture and teaching offerings to the Global Quilt Connection. Participating in an All Star Sampler Platter was a blast! I am traveling to guilds again, but will continue to be available on Zoom. My trunk shows are engaging and fun. Every quilt I show has a story to tell. Most of my workshops are technique-based, so students leave with knowledge that translates to many future projects.
I have been honored to have won awards in local and regional shows including Best of Show at Ninigret Quilters 2013, 2017 and Narragansett Bay Quilters Assoc 2016. My work has also been exhibited at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival, World Quilt New England, and QuiltCon Together 2021.
I have a very supportive husband, two awesome adult kids who live too far away with their lovely spouses, and two beautiful grandsons.
